“Hope” is the Thing with Feathers

Poem for World Aids Day

“Hope” is the thing with feathers –
That perches in the soul –
And sings the tune without the words –
And never stops – at all –

And sweetest – in the gale – is heard –
And sore must be the storm –
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm –

I’ve heard it in the chillest land –
And on the strangest Sea –
Yet – never – in Extremity,
It asked a crumb – of me.

  1. The value of ‘hope’, like just about anything else is best manifested when we do the ‘hard yards’.

It’s not quite on-topic perhaps, but I stumble on this heartwarming little clip and it seemed to pull together such a lot of what gets talked about here. From nothing but ‘bad’ the people involved work, each in their own way, to create something ‘good’ all-round’.
,,,and none of it is so very difficult or out of the ordinary.

Skip the first segment and tune in at the 25:30 mark.

      • The whole clip is great Dabs. Thanks. It made me see Cesear Millan in a new light. And what a wonderful Christian community they are. God bless them.

      • I’d never heard of him, but what impressed me was that everybody involved just seemed to be expressing their humanity in the way each of them, individually, was best at, without any ulterior motives or agenda, to produce a very worthwhile long-term outcome for everybody.
Such outcomes send ripples in all directions and will have effects beyond what anyone might ever have anticipated.
‘Love thy neighbour’ at it’s best.
