A song for the first day of summer

ON this side of the planet it’s the first day of summer.

A time for celebration? Perhaps..there’s a sweet aroma in the air. or perhaps we just imagine it.

A perfect summer day, said the writer James Dent, is when the sun is shining, the breeze is blowing, the birds are singing, and the lawn mower is broken.

But, as Anton Chekhov said: People don’t notice whether it’s winter or summer when they’re happy.

Well, today – the first day of the Aussie summer – is also the birthday of the sadly under-rated crooner Matt Monroe. So here’s a song from him.

  1. And today is also the birthday of my friend Pete, a genuine homeless man who has been given shelter by a very big hearted Christian man, who is also a friend. Happy Birthday Pete. And God bless all the wonderful people who do more for others than themselves.

    • Doing good, Mon. Though often taken for granted or assumed, genuinely being thought-of can be such a huge thing.

Careful though! You might find yourself OVER-qualified for an address in heaven! 😉
