THE Vatican has formed a cricket team and has challenged the Anglicans to a match at Lords. Now that’s what I call a Lords’ Prayer!
The Pope’s X1, named St. Peter’s Cricket Club, will be composed of priests and seminarians….and perhaps a few ring-ins from the sub continent.
Australia’s ambassador to the Holy See, John McCarthy, was integral in the initiative and says he hopes the St Peter’s Cricket Club will field a team to play the Church of England at Lord’s, the home of cricket, by next September.
The Church of England responded with a statement from the Bishop of Shrewsbury Mark Rylands, a known cricket enthusiast, who said he looked forward “to welcoming them to England as brothers”.
Interesting. Two teams batting for the Lord at Lords. Sounds wicket!!!
I always look forward to the ‘Pope Francis News Updates’ you write.

What weould you call the teams? The Protestant Protestors? The Catholic Crusaders? Well, maybe not crusaders. Not politically correct. Maybe Catholic Cardianals or the Catholic Catacombs.
