If you like a gloomy approach…..

The Danish philosopher, Kierkegaard, told a parable of a theatre where a variety show was proceeding. Each show was more fantastic than the last, but suddenly the manager announced the theatre was on fire. The audience thought it was part of the show and applauded as fire raced through the building, killing them all.

“And so,” Kierkegaard concluded, “will our age, I sometimes think, go down in fiery destruction to the applause of a crowded house of cheering spectators.”

  1. Yes! My diabetic friends tell me that half the population in this country are digging their own graves with their teeth (one unhealthy food bite at a time)… AND LOVING IT!

I should think so! And about time, too, after 2000 years of waiting for Armageddon.
