Cool Christians #1

Pope Francis holds his pastoral staff, made from recycled wood from broken migrant boats, at the end of a Mass during his visit to the island of Lampedusa, southern Italy, Monday July 8, 2013. Pope Francis traveled Monday to the tiny Sicilian island of Lampedusa to pray for migrants lost at sea, going to the farthest reaches of Italy to throw a wreath of flowers into the sea and celebrate Mass as yet another boatload of Eritrean migrants came ashore.

  1. Yep, Francis is a cool Pope, all right.

I am still in awe that they elected someone who is the complete opposite to his predecessor Pope Benedict XV1. The Catholic Church is on a winner here, I think.

  2. Hi I hope many Christians joined in his invitation to fasting and prayer for Syria this weekend.
    (I think Benedict was courageous too – I can’t agree they’re opposite.
Francis is just more direct, and for sure he is just what we need at this time. )
